The virus crept over the planet and twisted every genome it touched. Plants, animals, fungi. Until our blue home had become unrecognizable, a world of monsters and ruin.

To some, the virus gave terrible gifts. To most, it gave only death.

The few that survived cried out for science to save us. And science did.

Pressed for answers and given nearly god-like authority, the Scientists brought humanity back from the brink of extinction. They built the first Neon Cities, giant walled metropolises, ringed in powerful neon lights that have so far kept the alien virus at bay. The Neon Light protects us.
